How to Use NGX Stock Screener

Everything you need to get the most out of the platform — from filtering stocks to reading charts and saving your best screens.

Getting Started

You don't need an account to browse — but creating one unlocks everything.

01

Create a free account

Sign up with your email — no credit card needed. Takes under 30 seconds.

02

Open the Screener

Go to Screener in the navbar. Set filters and hit Search to see matching stocks.

03

Dig into a stock

Click any ticker to see its full price history, fundamentals, technicals, and sector peers.

Our take: The fastest way to get value from the platform is to open the Screener, set one filter you care about — dividend yield, P/E ratio, or RSI — and see what comes up. Don't overthink it. The data will tell a story quickly.

The Screener

The main tool. Filter every NGX-listed stock by any combination of metrics.

Price & Volume

Set a min/max price range to focus on affordable or premium stocks. Volume filters help you avoid illiquid names — useful if you want stocks you can actually buy and sell without moving the price yourself.

Fundamentals (P/E, EPS, Dividend Yield, ROE, P/B)

These are the core value metrics. A low P/E with a decent dividend yield is often a starting point for value investors. A high ROE with strong EPS growth tends to signal quality companies. Use these together — no single metric tells the whole story.

Technicals (RSI, MACD, Moving Averages)

RSI below 30 indicates a stock may be oversold — potentially a buying opportunity. RSI above 70 means it could be overbought. MACD crossing above its signal line suggests upward momentum. Moving averages (MA50 vs MA200) show the medium- and long-term trend direction. Combine technicals with fundamentals for stronger conviction.

Sector filter

Narrow results to a single NGX sector — Financial Services, Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas, Industrial Goods, and 9 others. Useful when you already have a sector thesis and want to compare every company within it side by side.

Tip: Save your best filter combinations as named Preset Screens. You can reload them in one click on any future visit — no need to re-enter filters manually.

Stock Detail Page

Click any ticker to open its full profile. Here's what each section tells you.

Interactive price chart

Switch between 1M / 3M / 6M / 1Y / All time periods. Toggle MA10, MA20, MA50, MA200 overlays directly on the chart. Enable RSI and MACD sub-charts below the main chart. Hover over any candle to see the exact closing price and date.

Fundamentals grid

Market cap, P/E ratio, EPS, dividend yield, P/B ratio, and ROE — all sourced from the latest available NGX filings. These update daily after market close.

Technical summary

Current RSI with overbought/oversold context, MACD crossover direction, and whether the stock is in a Golden Cross (MA50 > MA200) or Death Cross (MA50 < MA200) — translated into plain language so you don't need to decode numbers yourself.

Peers link

Jump to the Peer Comparison page directly from the stock detail. See how the stock ranks against every company in the same NGX sector by price, fundamentals, and momentum.

Peer Comparison

Available from any stock detail page. Compares the stock against all others in its NGX sector.

The peer table shows price, % change, P/E ratio, dividend yield, market cap, and RSI for every stock in the sector side by side. A colour heatmap highlights which stocks are leading or lagging — green cells indicate relatively stronger values, red cells weaker ones.

Use this page to answer questions like: Is GTCO cheap relative to other banks? or Which oil & gas stock has the best RSI momentum right now? The comparison does the legwork of opening ten browser tabs at once.

Our take: The heatmap is genuinely one of the most useful views on the platform. When you see a stock with a green P/E (cheap relative to peers) and a green RSI (good momentum), that overlap is worth investigating further. Don't just rank by one column — look for stocks that score well across multiple dimensions.

Watchlists

Track the stocks you care about without opening the screener every time.

From any stock detail page, click the Add to Watchlist button. You can create multiple named watchlists — for example, "High Dividend", "Momentum Plays", or "Value Picks". Each watchlist shows the current price and daily change for every stock in it.

Watchlists are personal and private. Only you can see them when logged in. You can add the same stock to multiple watchlists and remove it from any of them at any time.

Tip: Create a "Monitor" watchlist for stocks you're not ready to act on yet. Revisit it weekly — you'll often catch a setup before it moves.

Preset Screens

Save a filter combination once, reload it instantly every time.

After building a screen in the Screener, click Save Screen, give it a name, and it'll appear in your Saved Screens list. On any future visit, open Saved Screens and click a name to restore the exact same filters instantly — no re-typing required.

This is especially useful for recurring strategies. If you check "NGX stocks with RSI < 35 and dividend yield > 4%" every week, saving that as a preset means it takes one click instead of setting five fields every time.

Today's Opportunities

A daily curated shortlist of NGX stocks ranked by a composite score.

Every trading day after market close, the platform ranks NGX stocks using a weighted composite of momentum, valuation, and fundamental quality signals. The top results appear in Today's Opportunities — a daily shortlist of stocks the data finds most interesting on that particular day.

This is not a buy list. It's a starting point. The ranking surfaces stocks that deserve a closer look based on the metrics — you still need to read the stock detail, check the chart, and make your own decision. Think of it as an automatic daily screen you don't have to run yourself.

Our take: The best use of Today's Opportunities is as a daily habit. Spend five minutes checking it each morning. Over time you'll develop an intuition for which signals the algorithm is picking up on — and you'll start recognising setups before they fully play out.

Sectors

Browse the market by industry. The NGX has 13 official sectors.

Go to Sectors from the navbar or any stock page. Each sector page shows every listed company in that industry, sector-average metrics (P/E, dividend yield, RSI), and a breakdown of today's gainers and losers within the sector.

Sector-level thinking is one of the most underused approaches among retail investors on the NGX. Before picking individual stocks, it's worth asking: which sector is showing the best combination of value and momentum right now? The Sectors page answers that question at a glance.

Tips & Best Practices

How to get more signal and less noise out of the platform.

Combine fundamentals with technicals

A cheap stock (low P/E) that's also showing RSI recovery above 40 is more interesting than either signal alone. The screener lets you set both at once.

Use volume as a quality filter

Set a minimum volume threshold in the screener to filter out thinly traded stocks. Low liquidity makes it hard to enter and exit positions at fair prices on the NGX.

Start broad, then narrow

Begin with a sector filter and no other constraints. See what's available. Then layer on a valuation or momentum filter. Adding too many filters at once often leaves you with zero results.

Data updates once daily

All prices, fundamentals, and technical indicators update after the NGX market closes each trading day. Intraday price changes are not shown — the screener reflects end-of-day data.

This is research, not advice
