Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Nigeria Stocks Screener uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our platform. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. By continuing to use the platform, you consent to our use of cookies as described here.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to work more efficiently, and to provide information to site owners.
Similar technologies include local storage (data stored in your browser by the website) and session storage (data that is cleared when you close your browser tab). These function similarly to cookies and are subject to this policy.
Cookies cannot access other files on your device and do not contain viruses or malware.
2. Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies to:
- Keep you logged in between page visits so you don't have to sign in every time.
- Protect the security of your session and prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks.
- Remember your preferences such as selected sectors or filter states during a session.
- Understand how visitors use the platform so we can improve it.
We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you across third-party websites.
3. Cookies We Use
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sessionid | Django session identifier. Keeps you logged in and maintains your session state across page requests. | 2 weeks (or until logout) |
| csrftoken | CSRF protection token. Included in all form submissions to prevent cross-site request forgery attacks. | 1 year |
| messages | Stores one-time flash messages (e.g. "Login successful") to display after a page redirect. | Session |
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| django_language | Stores your preferred language setting, if applicable. | 1 year |
We do not currently use third-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics). Anonymous server-side logging is used instead to understand page traffic without tracking individual users across sessions or sites.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Nigeria Stocks Screener does not currently embed third-party services that set their own cookies (such as social media widgets, payment processors, or advertising networks) on the main platform pages.
If we integrate third-party services in the future — for example, a payment processor for Pro subscriptions — we will update this policy to list the cookies those services set and provide links to their own cookie policies.
5. Managing & Controlling Cookies
You have the right to accept or reject cookies. However, disabling strictly necessary cookies (particularly sessionid and csrftoken) will prevent you from logging in and using the platform.
Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies via their settings. Common browser instructions:
Account Deletion
To have all data associated with your account removed — including session data — you can delete your account by contacting us. Closing your browser will also clear session cookies immediately.
Note: Blocking all cookies from this site will prevent you from logging in. The screener, stock list, and other public pages can be browsed without cookies, but personalised features (watchlists, preset screens) require a session cookie to function.
6. Policy Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes or as regulations evolve. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. If changes are material, we will notify registered users by email. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
